Kevin Calder CTM CPP

With a robust background in practical threat management, Kevin has dedicated the last twenty-plus years of his career to creating safe and secure environments for individuals and organizations. Kevin opened
K. Calder & Associates in 2006 and now is pleased to transition to NorthStar Violence Prevention Consulting Inc. 

Recognized for his leadership and commitment to excellence, Kevin has contributed significantly to enhancing the safety of the individuals and organizations he has served. Whether collaborating with a wide range of involved parties, implementing risk mitigation strategies, or fostering a multi-disciplinary approach, Kevin remains dedicated to the proactive prevention of violence and the protection of people.

Kevin holds CPP and PSP certifications with ASIS Intl., Certified Threat Manager certification with the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, and Workplace Investigator Certificate Holder with the Association of Workplace Investigators.

In addition to Kevin’s ongoing consultancy, Kevin was the Manager of Threat Management and Investigation with the City of Vancouver for 9 years. There he built a department, and was responsible for managing a team of threat management specialists, completing behavioural threat assessments, and developing threat mitigation policy and strategies.  Previously, Kevin was the Violence Prevention Specialist with Vancouver Coastal Health, and a founding member of the B.C. Sheriff Service’s Integrated Threat Assessment Unit.

Darren Dunn

The 24 years Darren spent working in law enforcement have provided him with invaluable experience in crisis management, problem-solving and risk mitigation.  Most recently, Darren served as a Corporate Security Manager at WorkSafeBC, where he was responsible for completing risk assessments and developing protocols to manage high-conflict clients. In addition, Darren provided ongoing training for WorkSafeBC staff on violence prevention, effective communication de-escalation techniques, and other organizational safety-related topics.

To complement his extensive law enforcement and public safety-related training, Darren has also completed a Master of Business Administration. His education, along with his law enforcement background, gives him a unique understanding of the challenges public and private organizations are facing today.

Darren’s professionalism, collaborative approach, and attention to detail, will no doubt help enhance the safety and security of your organization.

Shannon McGeehan

With over 20 years of clinical mental health experience and a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology, Shannon brings a strong and well-rounded skill set to her work in violence prevention and organizational safety. Her expertise in risk assessment, crisis management, and stakeholder engagement allows her to effectively address workplace violence and implement targeted risk-mitigation strategies.

In her professional experience within the provincial government and across public sectors including health care, education, and social services, Shannon has led critical interventions in complex, high-risk environments. Most recently, she has conducted workplace violence risk assessments in municipal and library settings. She is skilled at navigating interpersonal dynamics and is dedicated to fostering relationship-based collaboration.

Shannon’s strategic and people-focused approach makes her a valued partner in advancing NorthStar’s mission to deliver practical, effective violence prevention and threat management services to various organizations.
